I’ve created the “treę of lifē” in order to clarify to myself a situation taking part inside my novel Phāntom Whispers, which from time to time requires that I see before I write.

Therefore I began to paint its episodes—each a window through imagination into matter.
I found myself walking in times without time, on a path without a path, in the wilderness of No-Where.

The sun rose and fell in a loop of repetition; shadows flickered like broken film.

There I approached a tree—its trunk scarred, its branches older than history.

When I rested beneath it, an invisible force drained the life from me and I fell into a dreamless sleep.
When I awoke, fire spoke.

Thousands of tiny flames—birds of light—circled the tree.

Its withered limbs flushed green again, bearing fruits of molten lava.

They burst into embers and rose singing.

The hellish fruits became souls reborn.

From them the world of Phāntom Whispers grew: lost spirits seeking form, renewed through fire.
I followed their flight and met a one-armed man battling a ghost crew beneath a purple sun.

His struggle was not violence but release—the eternal fight for life against death’s forgetfulness.

When he vanished, the desert stood silent, and I understood that the tree was watching over every soul, renewing them with light.
Thus the treę of lifē is not symbol only; it is a system of cosmic respiration, its lava-fruits the very force that feeds the damned their second birth.

It is hope made visible through heat; the magic that lets life remember itself.
